Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
