Sanrio's mischievous alternative rabbit character, Kuromi, is at last stepping into the spotlight this Halloween. To mark two decades since Kuromi joined the Sanrio character family, Sanrio has teamed up with several major brands for a multi-faceted celebration both online and offline.
Fresh Gaming Experience: Kuromi's Mischief Mansion
Starting today, fans can enter an all-new online game titled The Mischief Mansion, that's built within the existing Hello Kitty Café Tycoon experience. This launch kicks off what is planned to be a yearly spooky season tradition honoring Kuromi. An official described it as the brand's “most ambitious digital activation yet”.
As for how to play, The Mansion is a version of hide-and-seek. Participants take on one of two roles: those hiding disguise themselves as spooky items, while seekers play as Kuromi and try to find those in hiding. By playing, users can collect special currency to redeem Kuromi-themed decorations in the café game, along with limited-time rewards and free items.
It's exciting to partner with Sanrio to honor Kuromi via an special product line. With our brand collaboration program, our collective fans can join the festivities online and in real life and we know everyone will enjoy the experience of Kuromi's Mischief Mansion on Roblox this year.
Physical Events at Hot Topic Stores
The Kuromi-themed festivity is also spilling over into the real world. Throughout October, over six hundred retail locations are getting a makeover decked out in purple into real-life versions of Kuromi's Mischief Mansion from Sept. 29 until Oct. 19. They will feature an assortment of exclusive Kuromi items including hoodies and accessories. Each collection item comes with a card to unlock a digital item within the game. These items launch at retail from early October.
SoCal Sanrio fans take heed: The Hot Topic main location in California will also host a themed temporary event featuring photo spots, social media-ready experiences, and a chance for a personal meet-and-greet on a specific date in the afternoon.
More Collaborations and Other Brands
For those wanting even more cute Kuromi styles, Sanrio is also collaborating with Liquid Death on a limited line including a limited-edition jacket and t-shirt. These items will be available at BoxLunch's 280 retail locations as well as online stores in mid-October.
Comfortable Shoes for Enthusiasts
Finally, Sanrio has something for the fans of comfortable footwear. Kuromi-themed Crocs in adult and kids sizes are launching exclusively online starting Oct. 1. Additionally, players can also unlock a limited-edition pair of in-game Crocs for their character during the Roblox activation.
